Shakeshia Harris currently serves a Training, Resources, and Information for the Advancement of Disability (TRIAD) Service AmeriCorps member and has been involved part time over the span of three years. Shakeshia is also participating in the 2022 – 2023 Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) program as a Parent Advocate Trainee. Shakeshia serves in other local community organizations contributing to education and community operations. Shakeshia focuses on making a positive difference to the world while impacting her daughter through encouraging her to use her abilities to make change. A goal of hers is to learn an abundance of knowledge to advocate for others, as well as herself, and educate them in doing so. Shakeshia’s message to others, especially parent advocates are “learn as much as you can and take advantage of every resource and learning opportunity. Stand up for your rights and teach those you care about to do the same”.
