Amber Allday currently serves as a STEP UP to Leadership Council member which is an inclusive organization that gives individuals with and without disabilities the opportunity to develop skills through participation in service and recreational activities in the community. Additionally, Amber is a member of STEP OUT, a program consisting of adults, with and without disabilities who provide community service, learn independent living skills, and participate in monthly social/recreational activities. She is also employed at the Institute for Disability Studies (IDS) as a Front Office Worker. During her time at IDS, Amber has served as Training, Resources, and Information for the Advancement of Disability (TRIAD) Service AmeriCorps member, been the Historian/Secretary and Co-President of STEP UP to Leadership Council; and participated in the employment-based program, Project Forward, which allowed her to be an Intern at IDS. Amber is from Ovette, MS and graduated in 2002 from Northeast Jones High School. Amber has been taking classes at The University of Southern Mississippi as a Community Adult Learner for two years. Amber’s message to people with disabilities is to “not let your disability get you down.”
