
Nathan Hatten currently serves as a member of the STEP UP to Leadership Council, an inclusive organization that gives individuals with and without disabilities the opportunity to develop skills through participation in service and recreational activities in the community. During his time at IDS, Nathan has participated in the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) program as a Self-Advocate Trainee; developed his own YouTube series titled Connecting with Nate; served as a Training, Resources, and Information for the Advancement of Disability (TRIAD) Service AmeriCorps member and volunteer; served as a member of the STEP UP to Leadership Council for several years and served as Vice President in 2016. Nathan is from Taylorsville, MS and has recently accomplished a goal of becoming employed, as he now serves as a front office worker at the Institute for Disability Studies (IDS). Nathan’s next goal to accomplish is attaining an apartment of his own. Nathan’s message to others is, “Don’t be afraid to show who you truly are instead of what others expect.”
